"Chamber of Commerce 2011 Home-Based Business of the Year"
Things have changed a lot in the past twenty years when it comes to the food people eat. Not only are we making efforts to eat healthy, there are other things to consider. What else am I eating when I eat an apple or a potato? Good, fresh nutrition or a handful of harmful chemicals? Where has this grown? What are the suppliers' growing practices? Are the farmers treated fairly for their hard work; are there regulations in place ensuring their safety? What are the pesticide use policies in the country of origin? How much carbon dioxide was put into the atmosphere as my food made its way to my table? How long has this head of lettuce sat around before I even get a chance to buy it, and how much of the nutrition has been lost to age?
As you can see, it's gone far beyond simply meeting the daily requirements of grains, fruits and veggies, dairy and protein. If any of the concerns above have crossed your mind then we're here to help. We've done the research and we're committed to providing you with fresh, in season, local and organic/natural fruits and veggies, right to your doorstep.
And why stop there? When you find a bright, fresh bunch of pink radishes in your bin, you'll also find information on the nutrition provided by the radish and delicious, interesting ways to eat them, as well as the tops (radish top soup anyone?). Not only would you be getting the most for your dollar, you'd be consuming a valuable source of nutrition, and who knows? You might find that arugula salad is your new favorite!
We also have a home-based venue for those of you who like to get to know your produce in person before making your selections. Join us for Cooler Shopping at 1326 Voght Street, Wednesdays 11-5. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
