Things have changed a lot in the past twenty years when it comes to the food people eat.  Not only are we making efforts to eat healthy, there are other things to consider.  What else am I eating when I eat an apple or a potato?  Good, fresh nutrition or a handful of harmful chemicals?  Where has this grown?  What are the suppliers' growing practices?  Are the farmers treated fairly for their hard work; are there regulations in place ensuring their safety?  What are the pesticide use policies in the country of origin?  How much carbon dioxide was put into the atmosphere as my food made its way to my table?  How long has this head of lettuce sat around before I even get a chance to buy it, and how much of the nutrition has been lost to age?
